Thing you need to know
A Managed Firewall is a Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) service where the firewall infrastructure, configuration, security policies and day-to-day operation are managed by a specialist provider on the customer’s behalf.
The firewall monitors traffic entering and leaving the network, applying security policies to allow, block or inspect traffic based on factors such as applications, users, destinations, protocols and threat intelligence. This provides a layer of protection that can adapt to the way an organisation’s network and applications operate.
With a managed service, customers also benefit from ongoing monitoring, policy management, maintenance and support. Superloop helps keep the firewall secure, appropriately configured and operating effectively as network environments, applications and security requirements change.
Superloop manages the end-to-end operation of the managed firewall, including configuration, security policies, monitoring, software and firmware updates, maintenance and ongoing optimisation.
The service also covers incident and fault management, configuration backups, change management and vendor support when required. This takes the day-to-day management of the firewall off the customer’s team, while helping keep the service secure, current and performing as expected.
Superloop provides ongoing operational visibility and reporting, giving customers insight into firewall health, security events, traffic activity and overall service performance.
With an unmanaged firewall, your team is responsible for everything from configuration and security policies through to monitoring, updates, maintenance and troubleshooting. With Superloop Managed Firewall, we take care of the day-to-day management for you, so your team can focus on running the business.
You also get access to Superloop’s networking and security expertise without the need to build and maintain those specialist skills in-house. We manage the operational detail, helping keep your firewall secure, up to date and working as it should.
From monitoring and patching to change management, incident response and ongoing maintenance, Superloop provides a consistent operational framework around your firewall. That means less complexity for your team, clearer accountability and confidence that your firewall is being actively managed as your network and security requirements evolve.
Superloop supports leading enterprise firewall platforms from Palo Alto and Fortinet, giving customers the flexibility to choose the right solution for their security, performance and connectivity needs.
Superloop provides and manages the firewall as part of the Managed Firewall service, with physical and virtual deployment options available where appropriate. We take care of configuration, security policies, monitoring, maintenance, updates, optimisation and support, keeping the firewall secure and performing as it should.
A Managed Firewall can support your broader security and compliance objectives with controls for traffic filtering, access control, segmentation, monitoring and security events.
Superloop manages these controls through consistent policy and configuration management, patching, monitoring and reporting, helping maintain a strong and consistent security posture.
A Managed Firewall doesn’t make an organisation compliant with frameworks such as the Essential Eight or ISO 27001 on its own. Instead, it provides security capabilities that can form part of a broader compliance strategy.
Yes. Superloop provides 24/7 monitoring and support for the Managed Firewall service. Alerts from the firewall are monitored by our Support team, who triage and manage faults as they arise.
The service has a 99.95% monthly availability target, with response and restoration targets based on incident priority. P1 incidents have a 15-minute response target and four-hour restoration target, while P2 incidents have a 30-minute response target and eight-hour restoration target.
Superloop proactively manages planned maintenance and firmware upgrades to keep your service secure, stable and up to date. Firmware upgrades are performed quarterly where new versions are available, with critical security updates addressed promptly. All planned upgrades are scheduled in advance to minimise disruption, with at least 10 days’ notice of planned outages where reasonably practicable.

Managed Firewall and SASE provide complementary layers of security. A Managed Firewall protects and controls traffic at the network edge, while SSE within a SASE architecture extends cloud-delivered security to users, devices and applications wherever they connect.
Superloop can integrate these services to provide consistent security across branches, internet access, users and cloud applications. This gives organisations the flexibility to apply the right security controls for each environment, while keeping management centralised and security policies consistent.
